Chapter 208: Innocent
Kaizer sat stunned in his place. Lyra’s question left him shocked because he didn’t know how to answer it.
It was a simple question. Lyra asked why she was naked and covered in his robe and all he had to do was answer her truthfully. But the problem was, he didn’t know how to inform her that she got bathed by a stranger like him. Anyone would find it strange and he knew that Lyra would be no different. She was grateful to him for saving her but about seeing her naked.....he felt more and more troubled as time passed and to make it worse, he felt her imploring eyes not leaving him.
’’I-i’’ he cleared his throat before continuing, ’’I wanted to remove any residue of the powder that affected you, so...’’
’’So?’’ Lyra implored more and he finally admitted it out loud, ’’So I gave you a bath!’’
Kaizer resignedly closed his eyes not daring to look at her reaction. He was ready to get cursed out for taking advantage of her vulnerability and waited with batted breaths to get a scolding but what he heard next was the opposite and far different from what he imagined.
’’Sorry’’ Her soft voice rang inside the silent cave making him open his eyes. He looked at her in confusion. Why was she the one apologizing to him? If anyone then it must have been him that must apologize. Kaizer stared at her as though waiting for her to speak more.
Lyra gazed at the man and parted her lips, ’’You must have felt extremely uncomfortable doing that. Still, you put my safety first and for that, I thank you’’ A small smile tugged on her lips as she added, ’’You really are a good man’’ Seeing him uncomfortably squirming in his place made her realize that he was feeling awkward facing her. If seeing her in the eye and talking troubled him this much, then she couldn’t imagine how he must have felt while bathing her. But not caring about his discomfort, he put her first, and that saved her.
Not all beastmen might be comfortable interacting with a female. It would be too arrogant of her to think like that. And the one in question here was Kai. Lyra just felt like he was too soft and innocent for this world.
