Chapter 199: Freezing ice
Lyra felt her heart clench the more she listened and as soon as he finished talking, She leaned and hugged him while rubbing his back soothingly.
"I’m sorry" Only these words came out of her mouth after a long time. She was not sure what she meant by it. Was she sorry for the life he had led? Or was she apologizing for his childhood self who had to pay for his parents’ wrongdoings?
She also tried putting herself in Demir’s mother’s place. What would she have done if she had to stay in a relationship because of a child? Lyra was no saint. She had to admit that, she would feel sad and bitter in that kind of situation. But hurting a child who did nothing wrong? She would never do that. Maybe, she would have taken the child and run away from such a man.
But she knew that not everyone was the same as her. Demir’s mother blamed the child for her misfortunes, which was absolutely fine. Lyra could understand that woman. In this matter, one could not conclude whether someone is good or bad. At the end of the day, everyone had their own problems and solved them as they deemed right.
Yet, for now, Lyra decided to blame Demir’s parents. Maybe, this was because Demir is close to her. He didn’t deserve the things they did to him.
"I’m very sorry, you had to go through something like that," She said and felt his arms tighten around her waist, "I will not ask you to forget everything right this moment. But I promise that you will have only good memories from now on. I will make sure of that"
Demir felt his eyes sting with unshed tears. He didn’t want to cry during this moment because it felt wrong to do so. This instant with his beloved female made him the happiest he had ever been in all his life. To shed his tears now felt wrong to him.
’’Thank you’’ he uttered and hugged her tighter. He was thanking her for choosing to stay with him who was so broken on the inside. A knowing smile adorned his lips as he knew that she would scold him for having bad thoughts about himself. But he couldn’t stop thinking like this because the one he loves is perfect unlike him. She was beautiful and kind. knew how to say perfect words to everyone without hurting their feelings. He fully knows that he got lucky in meeting someone like her.
As two love birds continued to hug each other without a care in the world, it was not the same for their surrounding. Lucas who was sitting beside his mother wanted to storm toward them and pull his mate away from that despicable scorpion but before he could do that, the wolf queen pulled her son’s hand stopping his movement.
