Chapter 165: Injured
Kaizer dipped his snout into the crook of her neck and inhaled her fragrance. She always smelled like roses and it somehow managed to get calm his erratic nerves.
Meanwhile, Lyra broke from her daze as soon as she sensed his warm breath on her neck and started to struggle beneath him. Her protest came to halt when she received a hard gaze from the black wolf. She hastily cast a worried look at her cubs and sighed when she noticed the two standing silently in the corner.
"Go inside..." She mouthed to them and was relieved when they promptly entered the castle doors.
Kaizer looked at the fragile bunny in his clutch with amused eyes. She was naive enough to think that he wouldn’t notice her telling the cubs to leave. He was keeping an eye on every single gesture and glance she made from the moment he came here. The cubs were not his concern right now but he also did not want her other annoying mates coming out. So his shadow creature creeped out of him and blocked the cubs before bringing them back to their place.
"What are you doing!?" Lyra was given a scare when she glimpsed at her babies covered in ominous dark smoke. Her motherly instincts came to life and she pushed Kaizer off of her using her powers.
Kaizer was caught off guard and was sent scrambling to a fair distance.
Lyra quickly got up from the ground and rushed toward her babies before snatching them away from the dark smoke. She winced in pain when she noticed a gash on her shoulder. The black wolf’s paws were holding her in place and when she forcefully pushed him, his claws accidentally scraped her.
Kaizer froze in his place when he saw blood trickling down her shoulder. The red color was a glaring contrast to her fair skin and that made him even more vexed at himself. He scolded himself for being so reckless. His bunny was a fragile being and his momentary distraction caused her an injury.
He took a step forward to examine her injury but Lyra took a step back from her place. She continuously looked at the door and wished for someone to come. Blake, Lucas, and Noah were out to attend to their tribe matters. Victor and Kyrell were out hunting and that left only Killian inside the castle. But he was right now practicing his powers with Kenna and she wasn’t sure if he could hear the commotion.
