Chapter 117: Lexi
FOX CASTLE
A shrill scream of a woman pierced through the castle walls making everyone anxious. The guard beastman in front of a door glanced at each other but one gathered his courage and asked, "Are you alright my lady?"
’Bam’ some heavy object was thrown at the door making them flinch and that followed a cold voice, "Let me out, you bastards!"
"We apologize but we can’t let you out until the king says so my lady" they replied firmly making Lexi even angrier.
Inside the room, she glanced at her shoulder where her mate’s mark had disappeared two days ago with tears in her eyes. Lexi was sure that something had happend to her spouse when she felt pain in her shoulders following the disappearance of his mating mark. She was clueless when her father abruptly summoned her to the fox tribe, but now she realized that he had done that to keep her safe.
Lexi tried to think rationally and accept reality, but her heart refused to do that. Derek was the only male she had ever accepted because of love rather than her father’s insistence. It was also true that her father was pleased to have a king as a son-in-law but the affection she showed for Derek was genuine and she felt dreadful for not knowing his current situation.
It was just hope, she wanted to have a little bit of hope that Derek was gravely injured but not yet dead causing the mark to disappear. Lexi wanted to get out of this place to look for him but her father was not allowing her to even take a step out of this room.
After some time, her father finally entered the room wearing a grim face and that made her heart sink, "Father, what happened to Derek?"
Jacob looked at her and sighed, "He is dead, his younger brother killed him off and seized the throne"
