Li Qing felt somewhat displeased, being regarded with such eyes by an animal, what was that supposed to mean? No matter how ordinary he might be, he was still a person.

He walked up to it and saw clearly that the owl was holding a roll of brown paper, tied with a black ribbon in a bow.

Li Qing was momentarily bewildered, and after confirming that the owl merely wanted to give him the roll of brown paper it was clutching, he cautiously opened the window in one breath.

Flap flap flap!!

He had forgotten that the window in his place opened outward. He watched as the owl flapped its wings frantically, screeching as it fell.

"Hoot~~hoot~~~hoot~~"

Quick in his reaction, Li Qing caught the brown paper roll and then leaned over to look down.

It was already deep into the night, and below was pitch black with only a few dim streetlights flickering in the distance; there was no sign of the owl's shadow.

If not for the brown paper roll in his hand, Li Qing would have thought the whole thing was an illusion.

Staring at the brown roll in his hand, he suddenly realized that this might just be the admission letter Zhuang Xu mentioned.

"Is it real?!"

Li Qing, full of doubt, opened this paper that looked quite ancient, like a parchment scroll.

He pulled the ribbon away and spread out the parchment, covered in countless twisted patterns that were somewhat hair-raising.

He furrowed his brow, turning the parchment back and forth, and after ensuring there was nothing unusual, he was about to toss it aside when his hand suddenly stopped, and his eyes widened.

The scribbled patterns on the top of the scroll began to twist like countless black maggots, finally transforming into clearly recognizable Chinese characters.

"Holy crap, holy crap?! Holy crap!!!!"

Li Qing repeated "holy crap" several times before looking at the content inside with a mixture of surprise and doubt.

"Dear Mr. Li Qing:

We are pleased to inform you that due to maintaining your virginity for thirty years without engaging in overly intimate contact with females, after extensive screening and evaluation, you have qualified to study at the Gray Magic Academy. Accompanying this letter are the books you need to study in advance and the contents of the basic meditation technique. Please familiarize yourself with the book contents and the basics of meditation, and there will be an entrance test when the time comes.

The academy will officially start on December 31st, please keep your admission letter safe, as it is your path and proof for enrollment. On behalf of all the instructors at Gray Magic Academy, I welcome your arrival.

"Is it real?!"

Li Qing felt both excited and thrilled. After thirty peaceful years, on his birthday, such an opportunity presented itself, truly a turning point in life as Zhuang Xu had mentioned.

He felt a bit apologetic for how he treated Zhuang Xu during the phone call earlier, just when he was about to take out his phone to dial back, he saw that there was no record of the call, with the most recent log being two days ago—a call from his boss.

Is it truly magic?

Seeing this bizarre scene, Li Qing quickly checked the call recording logs, but still couldn't find the other party's recording.

"Holy crap..."

Li Qing had lost count of how many times he said "holy crap" today, the events nearly shattering his worldview, but having been seasoned by countless online novel readings, he quickly adjusted his mindset and looked at the parchment spread on the table.

So a click unveils the book.

Li Qing gently reached out and touched "Magic Origin," upon which the text on top of the whole parchment quickly started to change, rearranging as if the black lines were tadpole-like, constantly wriggling.

Within just over ten seconds, the entire old-looking parchment no longer contained the admission letter, but displayed a layout similar to an e-book.

Upon first opening, there were even initial operation tips. If Li Qing didn't know current flexible screen technology wasn't advanced enough for this, he would indeed think it was some tricksters trying to beguile others.

After smoothing out the tattered, mysterious-material-made paper back on the table, he calmed his excited heart, visited the bathroom, washed his face with cold water to clear his head, and then sat formally at the desk to read attentively.

"Magic exists in all things of the world, but originates from the Gods. It is a discipline recorded as the Gods observe the cosmos from a transcendent perspective, understanding the cosmos' rules, and passed down via some form of conveyance. When the Gods slumber, the knowledge carrying magic is discovered by intelligent life forms, and eventually, to this day, acquired by humans for study, use, and in-depth research to understand its essence.

Like the original light, stars in the universe endlessly emit endless light and heat, vitality, destruction, but how are they formed, how should we apply..."

He read until past three in the morning, rubbing his dry eyes reluctantly and placed the parchment scroll aside.

He only made it through twenty pages of "Magic Origin," with still one thousand three hundred and twenty pages remaining. From this initial understanding, magic isn't like in online novels, not filled with endless free elements or energy harnessed to conjure magic.

In his view, a mage is more akin to a system exploring the natural world through one's spirit, eschewing external tools.

This "Magic Origin" book explains every natural physical phenomenon in the world and uses a magical perspective to understand how they operate and compose.

For instance, light, scientifically speaking, is the electromagnetic radiation encompassing all spectra from the sun, filtered through Earth's atmosphere is what's commonly seen as sunlight.

But how is this light formed, commonly said to be from hydrogen fusing into helium within stars, delving deeper, questioning how stars continuously undergo a fusion reaction...

In magical thought, these occur due to energy density continually decaying, high-quality energy levels constantly decaying, thus releasing immense energy.

The scientific side also holds such a notion, with energy levels dropping continually releasing energy.
