Hemertos spoke with a low tone, words filled with a sense of bloodiness to Li Qing.

"And you, why did you come to Gray?"

Up till now, Li Qing had no idea what the Gray Magic Academy truly represented, only understanding that Gray was definitely synonymous with evil.

He looked up at the dull gray weather, and the surroundings that made one think they had arrived in the Underworld, the surroundings shrouded in mist, with faintly discernible buildings in the distance.

He dared to bet, without the school badge, he would definitely get lost in this eerie place.

"Of course, to study magic."

Hemertos reacted as if he had heard something extremely unbelievable, muttering after a while, "A human coming to Gray to study magic, what a huge joke, don't you know Gray is only a place for devils?"

Li Qing looked at the ancient fortress-like library made of thick gray stone in front of him; the entire structure occupied a huge area, the overlapping gray brick tone giving the whole building a somber and gloomy look.

This isn't a library, it's entirely the entrance to the Nazarick Underground Tomb!

Li Qing couldn't help but curse inside as he stepped up the stairs, walking to the library door filled with peculiar engravings.

Gently touching it, his school badge suddenly lit up, a rather intense magic wave rippled out, then connected to the carvings on the door.

Buzz!

A barely perceptible sound came from the door, then all magic waves dissipated, and the door silently opened.

Inside, things were unclear, as if everything had been swallowed by shadows, vaguely visible and indistinct.

Mysterious, dark, full of unpleasant aura.

Despite the repulsion in his heart, Li Qing still walked in, step by step, firmly.

The library door closed with a silent thud, causing Li Qing to glance back; he stood there for a while, waiting for his eyes to adjust to the environment, looking at the rows of bookshelves filled with countless books, extending to the horizon with no end, some unknown dark light source illuminating the shelves, allowing recognition.

Where did Hemertos go?

Li Qing scanned around silently, paying no mind; in Gray, everyone had their own secrets, one just needed to mind their own. Just as he was about to head to the shelves, a familiar voice came from the side.

"This human student, a friendly reminder: you might get eaten if you look at higher-level magic books without enough strength~"

This tone, this teasing voice, it was definitely Zhuang Xu.

He turned his head wide-eyed, looking towards the shadowed corner beside him, and only saw a table's outline, with Zhuang Xu in a black robe almost blending into the darkness.

Li Qing cautiously said, "Ah, it's Tutor Zhuang Xu, hello!"

Zhuang Xu, somewhat like a slender ghostly figure, laughed peculiarly, leaning forward slightly, finally letting Li Qing see him clearly.

He suddenly stood up, his tall and slim figure close to 2.5 meters brought a sense of pressure, making the air feel slightly heavy.

Li Qing stood still, hands tightly clenched under his sleeves, motionlessly watching Zhuang Xu who seemed to be continuously sniffing scents nearby.

After a while, Zhuang Xu sat back down.

"Interesting… you have piqued my interest nicely, bringing a new flavor to my dull days." Zhuang Xu lowered his hands, with keen interest, "So, a mortal human with a brief lifespan, what talents have you awakened after becoming a mage at thirty?"

Without waiting for Li Qing to respond, he shrugged, "Alright, let's not talk about that. What are you looking for in the library?"
