Chapter 61: Preparation
[Two days ago.]
Kevin sat quietly inside the massive examination hall, waiting for the written assessment to begin.
There were more than five hundred students around him, each one from a different corner of the nation. He even noticed a few who seemed to have come from foreign lands.
But that wasn’t too surprising. After all, the Academy stood above all others—it had the best facilities, the highest standards, and the most difficult entrance exams. Becoming a teacher here was considered a great honor. The process for them was said to be ten times tougher than what Kevin was about to face.
Once a person get admitted here, there was a very thin chance of him to become a useless unemployed person after graduation.
And with that success rate, it was no surprise that there were so many who wanted to become a part of the Obsidian Spire.
"Nervous?" a soft whisper came from the girl beside him—Anastasia.
They had met earlier near the entrance and decided to enter together. She had arrived with a butler, since her family was, as she’d said with a shrug, "too busy" to come with her. And since the Capital wasn’t far from the Academy, she didn’t seem too bothered.
Kevin gave a small nod. "Anyone would be."
He wasn’t particularly afraid of battle—after all, after seeing some young warriors train recently, he’d realized that thanks to Arthur and his father, he could probably stand his ground against a real soldier.
Compared to those students who liked to shout out flashy spells and swing their blades in exaggerated ways, Kevin had real strength. Real training.
