Chapter 51: Taking In The Disciples To Train Them
Kranos stood silently, observing the five cultivators before him. After watching them display their techniques, he could roughly estimate their cultivation levels. With a few calculated guesses, he ranked them and selected the top five—three men and two women. Giving them a subtle nod, he turned and led them toward a building located slightly away from the main courtyard.
This courtyard had been specially constructed over the past six months by the City Lord, intended solely for Kranos to train these cultivators. As Kranos stepped inside, his gaze swept across the area. Besides a few leisure trees that had clearly been transplanted, the courtyard was mostly empty, with minimal distractions, perfect for cultivation.
The five cultivators entered cautiously. They recalled that even though Kranos seemed like a kid, he was probably on the same level as the City Lord, if not stronger. They could only stand in silence, waiting for Kranos to begin teaching them.
Kranos soon found a wooden stool inside the courtyard, which he sat on and then began pondering. Basically, he couldn’t advise them on their cultivation techniques since he wasn’t an elder on that level yet.
After a moment of contemplation, he tossed each of them a pouch filled with a hundred high-grade mana stones. Over the past six months, they had been comprehending advanced techniques while forcibly suppressing their breakthroughs. With these resources, Kranos knew they would erupt like dormant volcanoes finally set off.
Seeing the hundred high-grade mana stones in their line of sight, the cultivators’ eyes lit up with joy. Without hesitation, they hastily reached out and snatched them up as though they were afraid that the mana stones might vanish if they delayed even a moment longer.
"Use these resources to cultivate," Kranos said calmly. "Over the next six months, you will spar with one another fiercely and without holding back. Treat it as if your life is on the line. The more progress you show, the greater the rewards you’ll receive."
He knew that only when one’s life was endangered would they erupt with unimaginable potential. This was what he wanted, to force the potential out of these cultivators by engaging in life-and-death duels.
Of course, he was confident about this because he could pause time at any moment and rescue them, which was why he allowed them to do so.
