Chapter 336: Is He Trying To Play Hard To Get?
Philip opened the door, laughing. "I bought some pickled herring and grilled it for a sandwich. It’s really tasty. Want to try?"
He held the sandwich up to Kane’s mouth. Kane took one look and ran away. "Don’t come near me!"
"Try it! It’s amazing with mayonnaise and a little black pepper!" Philip said, still chasing Kane around.
Kane darted behind Chantelle. "If I did something wrong and deserve to be punished, take me to court! Don’t feed me weird stuff!"
Chantelle laughed, clearly amused. Then her smile faded slightly as she turned to Philip and asked, "How’s Mr. Wilson’s condition?"
"It’s just a virus. He won’t die!" Philip blurted out, talking faster than he could think.
The moment he realized what he’d said, he grabbed his plate and bolted into the room.
Chantelle knew she wouldn’t get anything more out of him, so she decided to spend the night there.
Later that evening, she shared a room with Thea. As Thea went through her beauty routine, she asked, "Chantie, what’s really going on between you and Mr. Wilson? He told me to keep an eye on you, but he won’t even see you himself. Is he trying to play hard to get?"
"Who knows?" Chantelle said, resting her chin on her hands, thinking about what had happened at the Wilson residence.
Even though he looked badly hurt, he could still stand. His face was clean, and his clothes were neat.
