Chapter 217: The Bird That Flew for Comfort in the Cuckoo's Nest (1)
"But where is this place? It doesn't look like a royal palace."
The place Erina and I had entered while riding the carriage was a space I was seeing for the first time in my life. Faint magic lighting brightened the field of vision against pitch-black walls. The single-path corridor exposed the bedrock completely, giving off a rough and ominous atmosphere.
Lumps of mana attached to candlesticks were emitting light in the corridor. Thanks to that, even though the atmosphere here was dreary, it did not give an overly dark or suffocating feeling. The only trace of human touch in the corridor was the floor. While the floor where the carriage was placed remained as the rough cave bedrock, the passage continuing in a straight line from the carriage was neatly polished.
Erina walked with an awkward posture and looked back at me. Her face was still flushed.
"This is the secret passage of the royal house. The Carriage of Alio Festa can only be used here."
"It seems the carriage I rode was a rather special one."
"Would it not be obvious? There are few artifacts that can freely use teleportation magic. You just used one of them, the [Carriage of Alio Festa]. Consider it an honor."
The Carriage of Alio Festa. The name Alio Festa was definitely a name I had heard in Mimir. To be exact, the name of one of the ancestor spirits who sponsored AA was Alio Festa. However, I still could not grasp exactly how amazing it was. Since I had never researched magic, I could not know just how incredible freely using teleportation was in this neighborhood.
"Is it such an amazing skill? Don't misunderstand. I'm not being sarcastic; it's just that since I am a layman regarding magic, I don't really know what level of mastery teleportation is."
