The Reversed Hierophant

Chapter 108: – Decapitation

Julia scrubbed his hands vigorously. The water in the silver basin was clear and transparent—no matter how hard he rubbed, he couldn’t work up any dirt. Yet he still scraped frantically at the skin on his hands. The fractured surface of the churning water reflected the young lord’s twisted face. His complexion bore an eerie flush, and his unnaturally wide eyes made him look like a frog being choked. His handsome features were twisted into a mask of morbid excitement—he was like a madman lost in his own world.

The splashing sound of water echoed through the room. Julia focused intently on scrubbing his hands; the skin on the backs of his hands were already cracked and bleeding. But these past few days, he had still tirelessly asked for water and washed his hands—it had become his secret, guilty pleasure.

Staring into the clear water, Julia kept imagining large bursts of crimson bursting forth within it. At the thought, he felt that hot, wet, sticky texture return to his hands. The metallic stench of blood rushed to his nose, and a pair of eyes that had died without closing stared straight back at him.

His breathing grew ragged and heavy, sounding like the low growls of a wild beast. His chest heaved as his lungs gulped in huge mouthfuls of air. As an excess of oxygen flooded his system, he felt his soul float light and airy out of his body, drifting upward, higher and higher in bliss…

Redrick Claudius Portia.

Julia chewed on the name repeatedly in his mind and on his tongue, drawing a morbid thrill from it. Merely repeating the name brought him to a climax of psychotic joy.

What a noble surname! What a distinguished lineage!

He giggled foolishly. Who could have guessed that such a last scion of the royal family—a grand, noble duke—would end up dying at his hands?

He! A lowly commoner, a nobody born on a haystack, had personally ended the life of a duke!
