If they were vigilant enough, they should have spotted early signs of the beast tide and taken measures to respond.
However, the cultivators on the island likely had no idea just how terrifying this wave was. If they failed to evacuate in time, they would probably be surrounded and killed by the ever-growing number of demonic beasts.
Along the way, some beasts noticed his presence and gave chase. Fortunately, none of them were powerful great demons, and Qin Sang easily left them behind.

From a distance, Qin Sang frowned at the sight on the island.
Demonic beasts swarmed in like an endless tide, their black mass surrounding the entire island. At the center of the battlefield, the roars of beasts mingled with shouts of battle. Many cultivators had already been trapped inside.
With the Two-Headed Hou covering him, Qin Sang approached the island in stealth and reached the outskirts of the battlefield. There, he saw grotesquely-shaped sea beasts ahead, surging like a colony of ants.
These sea beasts showed no fear of death. Though their cultivation levels were low, being swarmed by so many of them would make even Qin Sang's scalp tingle.
