Zeus did get the blame for disturbing Rex. Rex was genuinely impressed with Mara by Zeus's words.
"I'll be back shortly." Rex told Lilith and kissed her.
Zeus had to take the punishment for disturbing Rex in his time to do paperwork.
Rex stepped outside and saw Mara. She looked more beautiful now than before. That honestly did not affect Rex at first. As he stared at her, he felt that it would be a shame to not give her the best that he could think of without hurting her feeling or injuring her too much.
Mara thinking that Rex would not hold back against her began to showcase her beauty now much stronger than against Zeus.

A lightning strike flew from Mara's twist of her hair. Rex dodged the strike by moving his feet to a sliding motion to the right.
Mara was excited to try out new abilities. It was indeed short lived after that strike. Rex was able to disappear and reappear holding her jaw and hair.
"You have to not focus on your beauty. That itself will be your downfall." Rex told her.
