"Dad!" Becky cried, her small feet pounding against the ground as she dashed toward him with all the strength her little body could muster.
"William!" Terry followed right behind her, her expression radiant and filled with disbelief.
Alice, Jill, Claire, Ada, and K-Mart—each of them couldn't hold back any longer. Their feet moved before their minds could catch up, and in an instant, they surrounded him, throwing themselves at William and burying him in a collective embrace that overflowed with warmth and longing. Their soft bodies pressed against him from all sides, arms tangled and desperate to feel him again, to confirm he was really here, really awake.
"You're crushing me," William murmured with a dry chuckle. "Your enthusiasm is like fire."
