Tessa held her head in her hands, and a tear of fear came out. She was shot. But if she was shot, she would die. So why didn't she die?
The pain she imagined didn't come. Tessa slowly let go of her head and looked at William. What happened to "I, you"?
William turned his hand to reveal the bullet in his palm. "You're not dead; I was just kidding." William laughed and walked away.
Tessa stared at William's back. "Just kidding?! Is this a joke? He almost scared me to death."
"No." Tessa's eyes were deeply frightened. "The bullet in his hand wasn't clean like a normal bullet." She shook her head, speaking to herself in disbelief. "He caught the bullet at such close range. Is this something humans can do? He's not human."

At night, William returned to the abandoned gas station with a few roasted rabbits. Cade and Tessa both looked at William. Tessa's eyes held a hint of fear. This man was terrible and terrifying. What was his purpose? Should she tell her dad?
"Come here. If you're hungry, we have rabbit for dinner." William placed the roasted rabbits on the table.
"Hmph." Tessa turned her face away.
Cade said, "Thank you," but wasn't polite as he started eating. "Tessa, you can eat too."
