Chapter 10: CH: 10 Treasure In Hand
[Chapter: 10 Treasure In Hand]
The entirety of New York City was under lockdown. All entry and exit to the city were tightly patrolled by the military.
It had already been a day since William gained his super-soldier powers.
From time to time, you could see policemen and military personnel passing around the corner, scrutinizing people's faces and comparing them to the poster they had in their hands.
A sketch of William's face had been turned into posters around the city with "Alive or Dead" signs, offering a prize of upwards of one hundred thousand dollars.
Bear in mind that this was 1940; most people earned less than $300 a month. The bounty was insanely high.
Not to mention, the purchasing power of a dollar was almost 15 times more during these times, meaning this 100 thousand was equivalent to around 1.8 million in 2025.
This was the first [Dead or Alive] poster in a decade, and that too outside of the Wild West.
Along with his sketch and bounty prize, there was a description:
[About 6'2" in height, white ethnicity, and of Asian-American descent.
Approach with extreme caution—he is very strong, heavily trained, and killed 18 soldiers while wounding over 40 to escape from a military facility.]
