“Miss Zhong, I really didn’t expect to encounter you here,” said Meng Ruikai with a smile on his face. “It’s been a long time since we last met. I’ve been wanting to invite you to dinner, but didn’t have your contact details. Meeting you here really must be fate!”
“Dinner is unnecessary.”
Compared with the enthusiasm on Meng Ruikai’s face, Zhong Niangyao was noticeably colder. “We are even now.”
Even though she had helped the Meng Family, she had received appropriate compensation. She could hardly say her relationship with the Meng Family was pleasant, especially since she had discovered their most shameful secret. Presumably, they wouldn’t want to see her either.

Meng Rou stepped forward, her face bearing a gentle smile, so different from the darkness of the past, appearing to be a girl of tender sentiment, “If you have time, let’s have dinner together! I wasn’t in the best of moods before, so my attitude wasn’t great, which gives me the perfect opportunity to apologize to you.”
“There’s no need.” Zhong Niangyao shook her head, speaking indifferently, “And we’ve already eaten, so we won’t disturb you.”
Meng Rou’s change was too drastic to seem normal. However, she did indeed seem entirely different from before, and she looked much healthier too. But her sunny appearance somehow felt a bit eerie.
“It’s really too bad then.” Meng Rou smiled faintly, then her gaze fell upon Lu Yichen who was standing beside Zhong Niangyao, “Miss Zhong, is this gentleman a friend of yours?”
“That’s none of your business.”
Zhong Niangyao spoke indifferently, “Goodbye.”
With that, she took Lu Yichen’s arm and left.
After Zhong Niangyao had left, Meng Ruikai stepped forward and looked at Meng Rou, “Xiao Rou, your interaction with Miss Zhong–”
He was surprised by Meng Rou’s demeanor towards Zhong Niangyao today because he remembered how Xiao Rou used to despise Zhong Niangyao. He even overheard Xiao Rou cursing Zhong Niangyao in private.
But today, Xiao Rou’s attitude was very gentle, a change so great that he didn’t quite know what to make of it.
“Brother, I was mistaken about what happened before,” said Meng Rou with a gentle smile. “If not for Miss Zhong, I’d probably be dead by now. But back then, due to my health, I couldn’t vent, so I took out my anger on Miss Zhong. Now, I’ve come to realize my mistake.”
“That really is great,” Meng Ruikai said with relieved joy. “If you’ve managed to see things clearly, then that’s for the best. Being on good terms with someone as capable as Miss Zhong can only be advantageous for us.”
In the past, their father had always wanted to establish good relations with Zhong Niangyao, but due to offending her previously, and considering Xiao Rou’s feelings, they had let the opportunity slip by. Despite their harsh words, their father could never be truly harsh with Xiao Rou, his biological daughter.
“It was all my fault,” Meng Rou continued. “Brother, could you please get in touch with Xuan Lang and ask him to arrange a meeting with Miss Zhong? I’d like to invite her to dinner and thank her personally.”
Seeing Meng Rou’s understanding nature, Meng Ruikai felt both distressed and reassured, “Alright, I’ll talk to Xuan Lang about it.”
Meanwhile, Lu Yichen was also inquiring about the two individuals Zhong Niangyao had just encountered.
Zhong Niangyao didn’t hide anything and straightforwardly mentioned they were former clients. Understanding dawning on him, Lu Yichen then chuckled and said, “If they are unpleasant matters and people, best not to dwell on them. Let’s get you home now!”
Given the day’s events, he felt Zhong Niangyao must be tired, and it was best she rest as soon as possible.

Almost everyone from the Zhong Family was there, except for Li Yiqiu who was still in the hospital.
