Perhaps this description may seem inappropriate, but for these Cultivators, when they are weak, they need to rely on Religious Sects, the Divine Dynasty, and ancient countries; but when their power is sufficient to stand alone in the world, such dependency naturally fades away.

This is not to speak of ingratitude, rather it is a kind of human instinct. Relying on others makes it hard to stand alone, and complete independence begins with a total severance of dependence.

This is true for ordinary people, and even more so for these Cultivators, as they possess much greater power than the average person.

If they received favors from Religious Sects or ancient countries under the Divine Dynasty when they were weak, then even after they become powerful, with the reliance on power gone, there still remain emotional ties, or the bondage of interpersonal relationships. This is the foundation upon which a Religious Sect or an ancient country under the Divine Dynasty stands—the true core of unity.

Just as why there are so many defectors within the Demonic Way, because it inherently encourages acting according to one’s desires, and they treat the nurturing of disciples as cultivating gu, especially certain extreme Demonic Sects that emphasize cutting off all emotions and ties. It’s only logical for them to see more defectors than other Religious Sects.

But within the Righteous Path, it’s not without such individuals who turn away from their own Sects, and often, it’s related to interests, as well as to the fading and breaking of mutual affection.

Just like the Star Lord Yi Suan before us, being someone capable of seizing the position of a Star Lord, he must have been a prodigy favored by the heavens, and must have achieved great merits during the War of Sealing Gods, otherwise even with the recommendation of Sky Mechanism Pavilion, he would not have had a chance to grasp the title of Star Lord.

Similarly, this meant that he belonged among the elite within Sky Mechanism Pavilion, qualified to compete for the role of successor.

If he had failed in the competition for the successor back then, whether expelled or subdued, Star Lord Yi Suan would have accepted his loss willingly.
