As the number of powerhouses in this world increases, a bit given here, a bit there, one city ceded today, another tomorrow, when would it end? Do they have enough to distribute among so many?

When the day comes that there is not enough to go around, conflict and great battles will inevitably arise. Rather than that, it is better not to share from the start, to choose suppression from the beginning.

Sometimes it is not that they are unaware of the alternative, but that alternative is not the best choice.

The Dragon Slayer ultimately becomes the Evil Dragon; Pei Xuanjing has become a Guardian of interests.

If at the time of the world’s resurgence, when Pei Xuanjing had nothing and faced these returning forces of the Desolate World, he played the role of a challenger, a warrior breaking the old patterns.

Now, from his current perspective, he is on the opposite side of his past self, one of the maintainers of the old rules, a party with vested interest, with these newly ascended Daoist Monarchs playing Pei Xuanjing’s old part.

However, unlike Pei Xuanjing who succeeded in disrupting the old patterns and gained everything he desired, today’s Daoist Monarchs are even mightier than he once was, but have not yet succeeded because they face an even greater, untouchable power.
