All creatures have selfish desires, only some can suppress their own, while some cannot. This holds true for individuals, and even more so for an entire race.

When it comes to cooperation, unreserved cooperation between two individuals is by far easier than that between two groups.

The will of a collective is inherently complex and changeable, and it is impossible for a whole group to be of one mind. If a group itself cannot fully agree, how can it completely trust another during cooperation?

Just like those allied with the Sui People Clan, they are not truly built on complete trust, but rather on amalgamation under the lure of interests, with a combination of carrots and sticks forcing those tribes to cooperate despite themselves.

They know that if they continue to follow this path, they will become vassals to the Sui People Clan. However, they have no ability to resist. Faced with the powerful force of the Sui People Clan, they can only comply to gain corresponding benefits; otherwise, they face annihilation with no other choice.

But for these feudal lords, it is not so. They consider each other as equal, even though there might be differences in strength. However, these differences are not so vast as to compel one party to submit to another.

In such a situation, they possess their independence, yet it is this very independence that ultimately hinders their ability to cooperate fully and without reservation.

For them, the Sui People Clan is a threat, and so are their allies. If they were to trust their allies completely and entrust everything to them, what would happen once the Sui People Clan is defeated? Would they be swallowed by their allies instead?

Since the feudal forces cannot unite without reservation, their defeat is inevitable, especially with the bandit-like tactics of the Sui People Clan sweeping up more and more tribes, growing like a rolling snowball.

Another twenty-odd years have passed, and nowhere has withstood the edge of the Sui People Clan’s armies. One by one, the feudal lords were crushed, and even when these lords united, they were no match for the Sui People Clan.

Yet, even so, these feudal forces have not been destroyed and still hold considerable territory. Even as the Sui People Clan keeps defeating them, they have not pushed these lords to utter desperation.

Because these feudal forces each belong to the God Clan, having ancestral gods in their existence.
