Chapter 219: Brightest Light Bulb
It took less than half an hour for Amelia to move into Isaac’s apartment. It took Aiden four hours to haul what must have been his life’s prized possessions into the apartment, and still, there were plenty of items that didn’t make the cut.
"Interior design is your passion, I see," Amelia said dryly as she watched Aiden struggle to fit the shelves with his figurines.
"You do not know the pleasure of magical girls," Aiden said without any shame as he continued to arrange them in the most pleasing manner.
Meanwhile, Isaac had quickly done a stocktake of what he needed to welcome yet another, possibly pregnant guest into his home. He had set up a mattress a few days ago in one of the spare rooms, but it was meant for Aiden to sleep on. With Amelia’s more fragile condition, he’d be damned if he let her sleep on the couch or something worse.
Aiden solved the problem by cheerfully offering his own mattress and the already furnished guest room, choosing to take the smaller bedroom that functioned more as Isaac’s disposal ground for his old medical texts and broken anatomy figures. He would sleep on an inflatable mattress instead.
Amelia poked at a skeleton in amusement. The entire apartment was pretty homey, despite the fact that Isaac had been living alone in it for all this time. There were plenty of photo frames on the shelves, and on his fridge were several pictures drawn by his younger patients, along with their thank-you cards.
"There’s only one bathroom here, so let’s try to keep things hygienic, alright?" Isaac asked. "I posted a chore list on the whiteboard so let’s try to keep this house spick and span."
"Chorelist?" Aiden squawked, as though he had never heard of such an indignity. "Why do we need one?"
"Why? Do you think you’re too good to wash dishes with the rest of us peasants?" Amelia asked in amusement.
