Chapter 58: Dead By Sunrise
"Just like before?" Amelia echoed.
Her throat felt dry. She would be lying if she said that she hadn’t considered this. She hated how he had humiliated her in front of her friends, she hated how he had kept his identity a secret from her, and she hated how she was never detailed enough to put two and two together to figure this out.
However, what she hated the most was knowing that Caleb’s love for her hadn’t been real when he had made it seem so true. He had been so sincere and genuine, and everything they had was amazing. Their marriage was regarded as a fairytale despite the struggles with finances, and if it weren’t for that, Caleb was the perfect husband.
Her tongue darted out to lick her lips.
But could they really go back?
"What about Kelsie Friesent?" she asked. Her head felt heavy at the mention of Kelsie’s name, even though she was the one who spoke it.
"Kelsie?" Caleb repeated. "She doesn’t have to know. I can buy you an apartment out of town. The company is busy right now with a few bigger ongoing projects, but it’s nothing I can’t work remotely on. They won’t die if I disappear for the weekends―"
"Are you saying that you want to restart a relationship with me, but in secret?" Amelia asked. "You want me to be the third party in you and Kelsie’s relationship?"
The hesitation in Caleb’s eyes was enough for her to snap back to reality. She tugged her hands out of his hold, disbelief surging through her as she shook her head. Bile was already starting to rise up her throat, and Amelia had never felt more like she wanted to hurl than now.
