"Fair points pops." The younger Sarutobi conceded, knowing better that to argue with his father, particularly when he mentioned the Nidaime. . "So what's the next big announcement you have to make, Oyaji? You said yesterday that you were going to announce something to the genin once they passed the Real Genin Exam."
"I've passed something I call the 'Genin Housing Act', which mandates that all genin newly graduated from the Academy have to move out of their parent's houses and clan compounds to somewhere approved by the Hokage in order to better learn how to balance a budget and live independently." Hiruzen smirked. "As it so happens, the only place that has my approval is the Amekage Apartments."
"Clever...very clever." Asuma nodded, his time in the capital, where political intrigue and backroom dealing were daily occurrences, allowing the calculus of that decision to unfold in his mind. "I stay there and so does Naruto. Having seven clan heirs and heiresses, plus the last loyal Uchiha live with the Kyūbi Jinchūriki under the supervision of your own son will show everyone how seriously you are treating this law, and the presence of so many in one concentrated location will allow you to keep several ANBU teams constantly stationed in the area, which will keep Danzō and his ilk from getting any more stupid ideas. I have to wonder how you got Hyūga Hiashi to sign off on it though."
"By pointing out that Hinata-chan will be just as safe in the Amekage Apartments as in the Hyūga Compound, if not safer." The Hokage replied calmly. "The ANBU Corps may not have any Hyūga, even Branch Family Hyūga, in their ranks, but they are far more capable as guards and sentries than Hyūga Clansmen. Part of their duties involves protecting the most vital locations in Konoha, after all."
That made Asuma nod. As good as he knew he was, even after his long stint as a glorified bodyguard to the Fire Daimyo, the younger Sarutobi knew that against even one squad of ANBU, he would be hard pressed to hold them off, let alone win. The plan that his father had for the Amekage Apartments would have it ringed by five squads at all hours of the day and night. That was just a single squad less than the number on patrol in and around the Hokage Tower itself.
"Well then...looks like things are going to get interesting indeed." The bearded man muttered before he looked at the clock. "Huh...almost time. I'd better go and pick up my new squad. Wish me luck, Oyaji."
