What Sarutobi neglected to tell Naruto was that all fourteen of the idiots had also been retired forcibly due to their inability to accept that Naruto was merely the Jinchūriki of the Kyūbi, not the great demon fox itself. They had all been the most outspoken about it in the force and had been nails that stuck out.
Sarutobi, by 'kindly' retiring them 'due to stress' had made a silent point to the other, more quiet members of the forces twelve years ago; Shut up about Naruto being the demon fox because it wasn't true. If you can't, get out or be hammered out.
As he sat and spoke with his surrogate grandson, Yamanaka Inoichi was interviewing the families of the conspirators to see if they had had any inkling of their wayward family member's intentions. Morino Ibiki was 'handling' the interrogation of the 'Spandex Brigade', to use Naruto's amusing nomenclature. Sarutobi expected confessions on his desk by the time he got back to the tower.
