Chapter 302: Find Help
"Tony," Remo said finally, his voice barely above a whisper, "what am I supposed to do with this?"
Tony was silent for a moment, his gaze steady as he looked at Remo. "I don’t know, Boss," he admitted. "But whatever you decide, you need to be careful. Abby... she’s not just unstable. She’s dangerous. And if she feels threatened, if she thinks you’re going to leave her... there’s no telling what she might do."
Remo nodded slowly, the weight of Tony’s words settling heavily on his shoulders. He knew Tony was right. Abby was a ticking time bomb, and any wrong move could set her off. But despite the danger, despite the fear gnawing at his gut, Remo couldn’t bring himself to walk away. Not yet. Not until he knew for sure what the right thing to do was.
"Thank you, Tony," Remo said quietly, his voice tinged with exhaustion. "You’ve done more than enough. I just... I need some time to think."
Tony nodded, understanding in his eyes. "Of course, Boss. Just... be careful, okay?"
Remo watched as Tony left the room, the door closing softly behind him. He was alone again, left with nothing but his thoughts and the file on the desk. He stared at it, at the name "Abigail Falcone" printed on the front, and felt a wave of emotions crash over him—fear, anger, confusion, and something else, something that hurt even more.
Love.
He loved her. God help him, but he loved her.
And that love, twisted and dangerous as it was, was going to be the thing that destroyed him.
He leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes in a futile attempt to push away the growing sense of dread.
He opened his eyes, and his gaze fell on a framed photograph on his desk. It was from one of their vacation —one of the few moments where they had both been genuinely happy, no pretense, no masks. Abby was smiling up at him, her eyes shining with what he had thought was love. His heart ached as he remembered how she had looked that day, so full of life, so completely his. He reached out and traced her face in the photo with his finger, a deep sadness settling over him.
