Chapter 287: Acquaintance
Abby adjusted the strap of her handbag as she stepped into her favorite café. It was a rare Saturday afternoon when she wasn’t swamped with meetings or company matters. She planned to enjoy her cappuccino in peace, maybe read a book or catch up on some light work. As she approached the counter, she noticed a familiar blonde head in the corner. It was Nicole, the woman who had bumped into her at the company dinner a few weeks ago.
"Abby! Over here!" Nicole called out, waving enthusiastically.
Abby smiled and walked over to join her. "Nicole, what a surprise! How are you?"
"I’m great! I didn’t expect to see you here. Do you come here often?" Nicole asked, her tone light and friendly.
"Yes, it’s one of my favorite spots," Abby replied as she took a seat. "What about you?"
"Just passing through the neighborhood and thought I’d grab a coffee," Nicole said, her eyes bright with curiosity. "I’m glad I ran into you. I’ve been meaning to get in touch."
Abby raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh? What for?"
Nicole laughed softly. "Nothing serious. I just enjoyed our brief chat at the dinner and thought we could be friends."
"That sounds nice," Abby said, genuinely appreciating the gesture. "So, what have you been up to?"
As they chatted, Abby found Nicole to be charming and engaging. She had a knack for keeping the conversation light and interesting, and soon, Abby was sharing anecdotes from her work and personal life.
"So, tell me more about you and Remo," Nicole said casually, sipping her coffee. "You two seem like such a power couple."
