Chapter 230: Need your help
Turning to her mother, Lily felt a surge of disbelief wash over her at her mother’s confession. "Is there something you want to tell me?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, her heart pounding in her chest.
Her mother sighed, her shoulders sagging with the weight of the truth she was about to reveal. "I want to leave your father," she admitted, her voice tinged with resignation.
Lily’s mind reeled at her mother’s words, the shock of the revelation threatening to overwhelm her. It didn’t make sense – her parents had spent years plotting and scheming to bring down the Falcone family, to reclaim what they believed was rightfully theirs. And now, just when they had finally achieved their goal, her mother wanted to leave her father?
"Why?" Lily demanded, her voice trembling with emotion. "Why now, Mom? After everything we’ve been through?"
Her mother met her gaze with a mixture of sadness and regret. "Because I can’t live like this anymore, Lily," she confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. "I can’t stay with your father, not when it means sacrificing my own happiness."
Lily felt a surge of anger and confusion bubble up inside her, a storm of conflicting emotions threatening to engulf her. She wanted to scream, to lash out at her mother for tearing their family apart at the seams.
"What about my own happiness, Mom?" Lily’s voice trembled with raw emotion as she confronted her mother, her eyes flashing with a mixture of anger and desperation. "Alex will never marry me if you leave Dad. Everyone will laugh at me. Do you want me to be a laughingstock?"
Tears welled up in her mother’s eyes at Lily’s accusation, her heart breaking at the pain in her daughter’s voice. "Lily, sweetheart, I know this is difficult for you," she began, her voice shaking with emotion. "But you have to understand, staying with your father is not an option for me anymore. I can’t continue living a lie."
Lily’s fists clenched at her sides, her frustration boiling over into a torrent of anger. "Living a lie? What about me, Mom? What about my dreams, my future?" she demanded, her voice cracking with emotion. "If you leave Dad, everything I’ve worked for will be ruined. I’ll lose everything."
Her mother reached out to her, her eyes pleading for understanding. "Lily, I know it’s hard to see right now, but sometimes we have to make difficult choices for the sake of our own happiness," she explained, her voice gentle yet firm. "I can’t ask you to understand now, but one day you’ll see that this is for the best."
But Lily shook her head, her resolve hardening with each passing moment. "I don’t care what’s going on, Mom," she declared, her voice tinged with defiance. "You’re not leaving my dad, not when I haven’t married Alex yet. I won’t let you."
And as she stormed out of the room, leaving her mother alone with her tears.
