Chapter 219: Let me go
As Abby made her way back to Remo, she felt a sudden presence at her side, and before she could react, Alex swooped in, capturing her waist and pulling her into a dance. Surprised by his sudden appearance, she glanced over her shoulder, expecting to see Remo behind her, but he was nowhere to be seen.
Caught off guard and with little room for resistance, Abby found herself swept into the dance by Alex’s strong grasp.
As they danced, Abby couldn’t shake the feeling of Remo’s absence, a nagging sense of unease settling in the pit of her stomach.
Abby couldn’t help but feel a surge of irritation bubbling within her. Despite her efforts to maintain a polite facade, she couldn’t suppress the sharp edge in her voice as she addressed him.
"What do you think you’re doing?" she hissed, her tone laced with thinly veiled annoyance. "I was just on my way back to my husband."
Alex’s grip tightened around her waist, his expression faltering for a moment at her abrupt response. Sensing the eyes of the other guests on them, Abby felt a flush of embarrassment creep into her cheeks as she realized they were the center of attention.
Ignoring the whispers and stares from the surrounding crowd, Abby attempted to pull away from Alex’s embrace, but he held her firmly in place, refusing to let her go.
"Come on, Abby, just one dance," Alex pleaded, his voice tinged with desperation. But Abby’s patience was wearing thin, and she had little tolerance for his persistence.
With a frustrated sigh, she relented, allowing him to lead her onto the dance floor. But as they moved together to the music, Abby couldn’t shake the feeling of resentment simmering beneath the surface. She knew she would have to find a way to extricate herself from Alex’s grasp before things escalated any further.
