The Twisted Obsession

Chapter 214: A toast

With a calculated gaze, Lily narrowed her eyes at Alex, her voice dripping with insinuation. "It’s just interesting how you seem to be so captivated by Abby’s every move," she remarked, her tone laced with accusation. "Almost as if you can’t take your eyes off her."

Alex’s eyes widened in surprise, a flush creeping up his neck as he stumbled over his words. "N-no, Lily, it’s not like that at all," he protested, his voice betraying a hint of uncertainty.

Lily raised an eyebrow, her expression skeptical. "Really?" she countered, her tone sharp. "Because it certainly seems like you’re more interested in her than in me."

Alex’s gaze darted nervously around the room, his discomfort palpable. "Lily, you’re being ridiculous," he insisted, though his words lacked conviction. "I love you, you know that."

But Lily wasn’t convinced. The doubt gnawed at her, fueling the flames of her resentment. She could see through Alex’s feeble attempts to deny the truth, and she wasn’t about to let him off the hook so easily.

"Perhaps," Lily said, her voice cold, "but actions speak louder than words, don’t they?"

Alex’s face flushed with indignation at Lily’s accusations, his temper flaring as he struggled to contain his frustration. "I can’t believe you would even suggest such a thing," he snapped, his voice tinged with anger. "You know how much you mean to me, Lily."

But Lily remained unmoved, her gaze steady as she met his glare with a cool demeanor. "Do I?" she countered, her tone cutting. "Because from where I’m standing, it certainly doesn’t seem that way."

With a frustrated sigh, Alex ran a hand through his hair, his patience wearing thin. "I can’t do this right now," he muttered, his tone strained. "I need a drink."
