Chapter 56: Adores You
Dr. Mason, a seasoned oncologist with years etched on his weary face, stood solemnly at Mr. Falcone’s hospital bed. Abby anxiously clutched her father’s hand, while Remo cast alternating gazes between them.
"In a measured tone," Dr. Mason addressed the trio, "Mr. Falcone, Abby, Remo... I’ve reviewed your father’s case thoroughly, and I want to discuss some findings with you."
Abby’s heart skipped a beat, a silent plea echoing in her eyes. Remo leaned in, mirroring the shared apprehension lingering in the room.
"Is everything alright, Doctor?" Abby’s voice trembled with a mix of fear and hope.
Dr. Mason paused, carefully choosing his words, "Since I was not the doctor in charge of your father’s case, I’ve gone through all the files and I have been closely monitoring your father’s condition, and the results of recent tests have led me to reconsider his diagnosis."
Mr. Falcone shifted uneasily in his hospital bed, his eyes darting between the doctor and his daughter.
"Does that mean...?" A glimmer of hope sparkled in Mr. Falcone’s eyes.
Dr. Mason nodded, "It appears that the initial diagnosis of cancer may not be accurate. However, further tests are necessary to confirm."
A wave of relief and uncertainty washed over Abby. She tentatively inquired, "What do you suspect it could be, Doctor?"
"There are several possibilities," Dr. Mason replied thoughtfully, "but without conclusive evidence, it’s too soon to speculate. I would like to proceed with additional tests, but unfortunately, some of the required resources are not readily available here."
Remo suggested, "Doctor, we’ve been looking into other options. I have spoken with a friend who is the head of the Faith research center not far from here. They might have the expertise and resources we need."
