Chapter 32: Kiss me
"Come on, get in the water." Remo beckoned at her.
Taking a deep breath to steady her nerves, Abby finally gathered the courage to step into the water.
The cool sensation of the lake around her legs sent a shiver down her spine. It was a stark contrast to the warm presence of the shirt against her skin.
As Abby waded further into the lake, she felt the water rise around her, gradually covering her up to her waist. Each step was met with a mix of exhilaration and trepidation, and the shirt she wore clung to her like a second skin, emphasizing her silhouette.
Remo watched her intently, his eyes following her every move as she approached him. The moonlight played on the water’s surface, casting shimmering ripples that seemed to dance around them.
When Abby was finally beside him, they stood facing each other, the water creating a serene barrier between them and the outside world. The silence between them was filled with unspoken words, a palpable tension that hung in the air.
Remo broke the silence with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "You know, freckles, you look even better in my shirt when it’s wet."
Abby’s cheeks flushed a deeper shade of crimson, and she playfully splashed some water at him. "Y-You’re incorrigible, Remo!"
He laughed, a genuine and carefree sound that Abby hadn’t expected from him. "Maybe I am, but at least it made you smile."
He closed the gap between them with surprising speed, intentionally splashing her as he reached her.
Abby couldn’t contain her squeal of surprise. His strong arms encircled her waist, and she instinctively wrapped her legs around his torso, grateful for the respite from treading water.
