Chapter 22: perfect
Remo, impeccably attired in a tailored suit that undoubtedly surpassed most car prices, led Abby into the extravagant jewelry boutique. The air was filled with the scent of polished wood, and elegant chandeliers cast a warm, golden glow throughout the store.
Abby clutched her purse tightly, glancing around nervously. Her simple yet elegant dress contrasted sharply with the glittering displays of diamonds, emeralds, and sapphires that adorned every surface, making her feel like an outsider in this world of extravagance.
With unwavering confidence, Remo turned to Abby and offered a reassuring smile. "Don’t worry, Abby. We’re here for a reason, and I’ll make sure you find the perfect ring." His voice was soothing, a stark contrast to the opulent chaos surrounding them.
Abby nodded, her cheeks flushed with a mix of embarrassment and gratitude. "Thank you, Remo. I just hope I won’t feel out of place."
Approaching a glass case filled with engagement rings, Remo gestured to the sparkling array. "Let’s take our time and find something that suits both of us. After all, this is just a contract, but it doesn’t mean we can’t make it special."
Abby examined the rings, her innocent eyes widening with wonder at the intricate designs and sparkling stones. "They’re all so beautiful," she whispered.
Remo leaned closer, sending a subtle shiver down Abby’s spine. "You’re the most beautiful thing in this room, Abby," he said softly, catching her off guard with his tenderness.
Abby blushed deeply and averted her gaze.
The store manager tensed and rushed over as soon as he spotted Remo, a nervous smile on his face. He was an older man, and his graying hair gave him a charming look. "Mr. Quinn," he said before turning to Abby with wide eyes. "Miss." His gaze lingered uncomfortably on her, making her shift uncomfortably.
Remo’s grip on Abby’s arm tightened, his possessiveness becoming more pronounced as he noticed the manager’s inappropriate gaze. He nodded at the manager curtly, his tone displaying a hint of irritation. "We’re here to look at wedding rings, not for a fashion critique. If you want to keep your eyes where they belong too, I would advise you not to overstep your boundaries. Respect my wife."
The manager stammered an apology, clearly flustered by Remo’s stern response. "Of course, Mr. Quinn, I apologize if I overstepped." He quickly retreated, leaving Remo and Abby to continue their search.
Remo, still perturbed by the encounter, turned to Abby, his concern evident in his eyes. "Are you alright, Abby?" he asked, his voice filled with sincerity.
