Bride To His Darkness

Chapter 272: Trapped Here

"Witches, witches, witches, and warlocks, name them– if only they were a pain in the ass it’d be easier to obliterate them all together, but they’re much more than that." Uttered Cassian as he twirled a book on his index finger, and then he stopped to look at Ivan who was gazing at him with a deadpan expression. He had his elbow propped on the table, his knuckles, a supporting pillar to his head, and he silently cursed at the ethereal glow of this vampire.

They were both seated on a table in Ivan’s study, and Cassian’s eyes fell on the paperworks that were left disorganized on the surface. The quilt was missing its feather and countless papers Ivan had briskly gone through were displayed on the surface of the table. Out of his own habitual orderliness, Cassian began to arrange the papers while dramatically saying,

"How in the heavens name do you work on tables like this? Look at this! Of course you can’t come up with an idea when your table is silently crying for some attention! Hold on, I think I got the papers mixed! Someday you should visit Carmarthen and I will show you what a real study looks like. Mine will literally give you some peace of mind." Cassian spoke with a voice that radiated confidence, but Ivan’s demeanor remained indifferent, whilst he retorted.

"My mind is not at peace, neither should my table feel at peace." Ivan scattered the paperworks Cassian had been working hard to re-arrange for him, and the man’s mouth hung open when the table was littered in less than a minute. Closing his mouth and lifting his gaze to look at the unsettled Ivan, he couldn’t stop himself from saying,

"Forgive me Your Majesty, but you have a problem."

"And hell is a swimming pool for corrupted souls." Ivan answered sarcastically before reaching for a map amongst the parchment splayed on his table. Cassian blinked, wondering how he could signify them from all these litter he stubbornly refuses to organize.

"Help me with the second map, it’s in front of you," Came Ivan’s request, and that made Cassian’s mind feel like his head was spinning as he tried to figure out where the map was.

"Where’s the map? I can’t find–" he had barely completed his statement when Ivan reached for the folded paper in front of him, and when he opened it up, Cassian’s eyes widened.

"Was it that hard?"
