Chapter 260: I Want To See You
As the whole crew had planned, Helena and the boys were set to leave for the borders at sunset. Ivan and Samantha, including Alistair and Tobias had stepped forth to bid them farewell. Ivan had tried to talk them into leaving tomorrow, but from Helena’s explanation, it was crucial they head back to the borders, as time could not be wasted, and they dare not underestimate the witches trying to trespass their way in.
As Ivan had a one-on-one conversation with Helena, Samantha’s eyes moved to Maurice who was getting his new horse set for the journey to the borders. When she approached him, he stopped what he was doing to give his sister a brotherly hug, and they both knew they were going to miss one another dearly. After everything that has happened, and how they had found each other after being seperated for a long time, it was difficult to watch him leave her side again.
"Take care of yourself, and make it a compulsory measure to write to me everyday. I want to know if things are weighing you on the borders." She instructed softly, almost seriously, "or if I need to come there to get you myself."
"Your Highness won’t have to undergo such stress, he will be fine, we’ve got him fully covered." Said Jack who suddenly appeared like a light in the dark. Maurice rolled his eyes dramatically at Jack’s pretentious display of confidence, but he was grateful that he had friend’s who were ready to keep an eye out for him, and by that he meant Bryn, cause out of the three of them, Bryn is the only one who was willing to risk his live over a competition rather than choose failure.
Samantha smiled warmly at Jack’s friendly reassurance, and soon enough, everyone began to get on their horses.
"Hey, Mufasa! Don’t forget the basics." Alistair reminded Maurice who nodded with a smile. Apparently, Maurice was more fond of Alistair than any other being in the Palace. It was understandable since he interacted more with Alistair than anyone else.
When they began to depart, Ivan came to stand beside Samantha. She leaned into his arms as she watched her brother go, and Ivan’s arm went around her shoulder as he pulled her into his chest.
"He’ll be fine." The assurance in his voice swept over like a calm breeze.
"I know he will." She answered before tilting her head up to gaze at Ivan with a smiling face. She had been smiling all day, since the moment they said their vows there wasn’t a time he caught her that she wasn’t smiling. As happy as he was to note her excitement and picture it permanently in his head, he was also concerned, but every other thought skipped his mind when her arms went around his neck, and she whispered.
