Bride To His Darkness

Chapter 249: Perverted Vampire

Ivan never saw its abrupt attempt to escape coming.

He never pondered deeply on the matter his little lamb told him about. He was concerned, as well as stupefied when she held out a mini-sized dagger to stab him by her window, and he knew his little lamb wasn’t someone who would wield a weapon unless she predicted some kind of threat to her harmless existence. When he asked her about it, she reassured him that it was nothing he needed to work himself up for, and although he chose to comply, his instincts didn’t.

As he tucked her in so she could have a comfortable night rest, his eyes, nose, and all his senses had alarmingly detected another presence in his little lamb’s chamber, whilst a peculiar sensation struck his nerves. He barely knew how he did it, but he managed to stay composed without giving away the slightest hint about what he sensed– he needed to leave the trespasser in the dark, which he did, as he pretended to have left the room when in truth, he had equally camouflaged himself with the darkness, waiting to face the one who had been sneaking into his little lamb’s room, unwelcomed.

He hoped he was wrong, he didn’t want to believe what his little lamb had said concerning someone watching her, but that hope was quick to shatter into many pieces when a figure in a black cloak emerged from the darkness, and he suppressed a gasp. It was standing at the edge of his little lamb’s mattress, watching her, but something about the unknown beings’ presence felt intimidatingly cold. The air around them grew thick, and Ivan could sense the ire emanating from the being’s body.

Yet, the most eerie part of it was the beings cloak that swept the floor. The dark cloak seemed to spark with flickers of crimson and gold flames. They danced hypnotically within the depths of the fabric, casting disturbing, otherworldly light that illuminated the path where it stood. Ivan recognized the sight of fire when he saw one, but strangely, the flames did not consume the figure in the cloak; instead, they played a macabre ballet, defying the laws of nature.

This wasn’t an ordinary person, thought Ivan.

The being, who was oblivious to his presence, quietly murmured something to the sleeping figure, whilst Ivan used the momentary distraction to grab the mini-sized dagger at the table behind him. When the being suddenly crouched and was about to lay his hands on his little lamb, Ivan acted out of impulse, and he could no longer stop himself from aiming the blade at it, but fortunately for it, its movement was fast and uncommon, giving it enough time to avoid the blade that would have created a fatal hole at the side of its head.

"Get your filthy hands off her." He nearly growled, his anger reverberating from his chest, but to his quick surprise, the being didn’t wait for another second before escaping through the opened window. Ivan’s eyes lingered momentarily on his little lamb, who was unharmed. She was still deep in sleep, and with a flash of fury, he went after the unknown being that dared to enter his little lamb’s Chamber at midnight.

The chase was endless as he went after the cloaked figure in the middle of the night. His crimson eyes glinted sharply, refusing to lose track of the being, and to Ivan’s notice, the being was extremely fast in its speed. However, that wasn’t going to save it from his wrath, whilst he took a different route, and when the cloaked figure turned around to see if the vampire was still hot in its trail, there was no sight of him.
