Bride To His Darkness

Chapter 188: The Abandoned Warehouse

After having their meals for the night, they returned to the Inn. Samantha had taken Alain to bed since he fell asleep on the way here, but the two vampires strategically stayed outside while waiting for the stopwatch in Cassian’s hand to stop ticking. As the clock repeatedly ticked in the quiet place, the night grew lonelier and more deserted since the subjects of Fernwood were retiring to bed, and when the stopwatch finally stopped ticking, Ivan took off his glasses, his irises switching into a blood-red.

A satisfied sigh left his lips as he closed his eyes, his sharp canines revealing themselves the minute he parted his lips. It felt as though his vampire spirit were eager to reveal themselves and cause bloodshed to the underlings that had awakened their insatiable thirst.

"Shall we? It’s almost time." Cassian effortlessly grabbed the bat he had borrowed from the innkeeper. His Amber-brown eyes switched into the darkest shades of red as he stood beside Ivan, their gazes fixed on the full moon.

"The waiter had more information to spare concerning the councils, they’ll be making illegal exchanges at the abandoned warehouse tonight, and according to the waiters timing, they should already be there by now."

"Meet me there when you’re ready then." In the blink of an eye, Ivan was gone.

Crouching at the rooftop of the designated warehouse, Ivan’s crimson eyes glinted as he watched four guards who were dressed in their armory, take out many bags of food resources from the warehouse and where loading it into an awaiting wagon. Cassian joined his side a minute later, and two men suddenly stepped out of the warehouse, engaging in a lively discussion as their boisterous laughter was all over the place. From the older man’s attire, it was quite clear he was among one of the council’s who had been told to watch over Fernwood, and the man he was presently speaking to must be the buyer.

"You have more than enough, I wasn’t expecting a bountiful amount of this while coming. The people of your village are indeed hardworking." The buyer praised as they made their way to the wagon, and the old man who smirked cunningly turned his head to look at his buyer. He seemed quite pleased that he had managed to impress one of his wealthiest buyers who had complained that they were lowering the quantity of their supplies, and thanks to the King’s unexpected distribution of goods across all villages, they were able to gain more supplies, which meant more profit for them.

"You do not understand the risk that I am taking to make sure this trade of ours works." The councilman hinted discreetly, "Since I have surpassed your expectations, a little reward to go with it would be appreciated by everyone. In the coming months, I can assure you that more packaged goods will be ready for your arrival."
