Chapter 167: In Between Two Walls
Samantha escorted her brother back to his room, and her gaze was laced with concern as she took in how he kept stretching his limbs from time to time. "How are you feeling?"
"Well, I’m alive." He stopped stretching before letting out a weary sigh, and then he turned to look at his sister whose concern had momentarily switched into a reprimanding gaze. She had her hands on her hip as she demanded. "What were you thinking starting a duel with his Majesty? I was almost starting to believe you were growing some sense but with your actions today.... My God Maurice! You’re incredibly lucky he took the duel as child’s play. Otherwise you’d be crushed into dust, then what about me?!"
"You noticed it too?" Maurice tsked in annoyance as if his sister just helped him confirm his suspicion. "I knew he wasn’t taking that duel seriously. I needed him to give me his all so I can be sure of what to ex–" and Maurice was stopped in the middle of his sentence when his sister flicked his forehead with her index finger, spreading a sharp sting across his temples.
"Hey!" Visibly taken aback, Maurice met her gaze to find her glaring at him with those mystic green eyes, and then she shook her head with her hands waving dramatically in the air, then she said. "You’re not even listening to me, fine then, go out there, sign your death certificate and get crushed like a potato but don’t come running to me when you get hurt okay? Cause I won’t listen to you. Have a goodnight while you’re still alive."
"Sam..." but before he could say anything else, Samantha turned to leave him standing alone at the entrance. He watched his sister’s figure disappear as she took a corner, quite obvious that she was pissed by him. "You’d be surprised, I’ll surprise you during the event!" He shouted loud enough in the hopes she’d hear him out, but she was already gone. Rubbing the back of his neck as his body still aches slightly, he pushed the door open and went into his room. Sigh.... He wanted to ask for a massage but guessed that won’t be possible tonight since he had an angry sister on the loose - he thought with an exhausted demeanor before closing his room door shut.
Samantha made her way through the corridor, and she muttered her disbelief as she kept walking. This side of the Palace was commonly quiet since most servants were occupied in the wing Palace and the main Palace itself.
"Samantha."
"Hmm?" Stopping in her gait as she turned around to see who had called her name, her eyebrows creased in puzzlement when she saw no one standing beside her. Did she by chance hallucinate her name?
Ignoring it, Samantha continued down the hallway till she heard the same echoing whisper in her head. "Come to me..." the whispering voice had her stopping in her gait again.
