Chapter 149: GreenHollow
Samantha wasn’t entirely sure about what happened or how it happened, but she found herself pacing about like an anticipating pet that was waiting for its master to return. Her heart drummed consistently when she placed a finger to her slightly wet lips, and it became evident that she hadn’t imagined the earlier kiss, he really kissed her!! Samantha’s pupils contracted in shock as the feeling of his cool lips on hers still lingered, but in a matter of minutes, the prickling pain in her chest mysteriously returned, hitting her deep in the heart like she had been stabbed with an in invisible knife, whilst she clutched painfully to her chest yet again, and this inexplicable sensation was happening for the fourth time this night.
"What is happening to me?" She breathlessly muttered her discomfort, but she was quick to adjust herself when she heard approaching footsteps behind her. Turning around swiftly, Samantha found her brother standing at the entrance, and there was a look of relief in his eyes as he walked in. A slight smile graced his lips as he patted her head in a brotherly manner, and Samantha returned his smile, regardless of the strange unexplainable pain she felt within her heart.
"Ready to leave?" He asked, "I’ve got everything set for our departure. The carriage is waiting outside but is there anyone else you’d like to see before we leave? Anyone who isn’t the vampire King?" He specified as a hint, and undoubtedly, he knew there was more to the story that his sister wasn’t telling him. For example, he noticed she bore no hatred for that man, and he saw a different sparkle in her eyes whenever he was around, like in the coronation when they kept staring at each other, as if no one else existed.
He was that observant, and he would make sure to find out what it was once they’d safely made it to Meadow Town.
"Shall we?"
Samantha glanced at the balcony’s entrance before returning her hesitant gaze to Maurice. Knowing she wouldn’t be able to wait for Ivan now that he was here, she could only nod her head.
Together, they exited the balcony.
Lucy, the head maid, Herbert, and the butler came to wave their goodbyes to Samantha, including a few couple of servants who wanted to wish her a safe trip to wherever she was going. Samantha gave Lucy one more meaningful hug before pulling away.
"Thank you for being a good friend. I wouldn’t have survived till this day if it wasn’t for you." Samantha uttered with gratitude, her eyes watering at the thought of leaving Lucy too, but her friend simply shook her head with an unrelenting stare. "You better write to me, even if it’s in secret. Maybe one of these days I can sneak off and pay you a visit, but for now, please take good care of yourself and stay away from trouble."
"Can you send my goodbyes to his Majesty for me?"
Lucy nodded, "I will. Goodbye Maurice, you both should journey safely." She waved at Maurice who only answered with a curt nod of his head. Getting into the carriage, Samantha glanced at the Palace entrance one more time, waving at all of them before the carriage rode off, exiting through the gate. She peered out the window with an indecisive stare until she no longer sighted the Chevalier Palace, and she looked away, the discomfort in her chest returning as the carriage rode down the hill. Ivan had told her to wait, but she hoped he would forgive her for not being able to do so.
