Chapter 80: A Distraction
"Why are you doing this?!!" Samantha, unable to sit back and silently contain the atrocities of his actions, had asked the hunter who appeared more relaxed after revealing his spiteful intentions of wanting to end the head-maid. He simply reclined against the chair, watching her whimsically before considering asking.
"Do you care that much for a lowly vampiress?"
"She has done nothing to you, your actions can’t be justified." Samantha countered back with considerable daring. "You can’t kill an army of Humans because one human did you wrong! You’re about to take the life of the innocent for someone else’s mistake and that is illogical, so bring her back! Feed her the antidote or something!"
The urgency in her voice didn’t go unnoticed, and she constantly switched gazes between the head maid and the hunter whose brown eyes glinted with pure amusement. For a second, Samantha assumed he would listen to her advice but that presumption had been an early guess, because before she knew it, he had his blade against her throat, and Samantha’s pupils dilated when his eyes twitched in fury.
But where on Earth did he draw out the blade from?
"A friend to my enemy, is also my enemy." He reminded her, and then all of a sudden they could hear the head maid coughing out as her body shook. The abrupt sound had the two maidens glancing in her direction to see the head maid was slowly regaining consciousness, and a look of relief washed over their demeanors when her eyes fluttered open.
But if she’s alive then....
"I never really killed her, it was a mere overdose." The hunter answered the question he was sure would be marveling in her mind. Her expressive green eyes already revealed her inner thoughts, but his tone was far from being friendly as the sharp tip of his blade touched the center of her throat - she could feel the cold sharpness it possessed sending shivers down her spine.
"Who do you think I am? I listen to no one, do save your speech. After all, you’ve chosen to sell yourself to those demonic vampires. He seethed. "If they treated you so well, explain to me why you made the decision to elope? The palace is filled with luxury, it’s an honor for a commoner to work there, so why did you give that up?"
