The Baroness Misbehaves

Chapter 243: Trapped

Pushing whatever furniture they could find towards the door so it would hold. Inna and Madeline went as far as pushing the bed, including the wardrobe to avoid giving Jeremy the slightest chance of getting into the room.

They were both sweating and felt tired after pushing all the heavy furniture they could find. They didn’t stop until they felt the amount of furniture they had pushed would buy them more time to think and find another way of getting out of here.

"This should be enough, right?" Inna’s gaze shifted to Madeline whose tired brows relaxed, and she looked at the furniture they had pushed before nodding her head.

"I believe so."

When they both stepped back, their gazes instinctively landed on the door knob, and they held their breaths.

Along with the frantic pounding of their heartbeat, they watched it twist slowly as though someone was trying to open it, and after several attempts, the door knob stopped rolling. When the door refused to budge, someone’s weight violently pushed against the door, trying to break it open, but with the improvised fortification that held the door, it was able to prevent Jeremy from getting in.

"We need to find another way." Madeline whispered cryptically as she looked at Inna, signaling that the door won’t be able to hold him for much longer.

"The windows!" Inna quickly suggested, and together, they both reached for any window that was covered by the curtains behind them. Opening the window, they immediately looked below, scanning the height, and as expected, it was relatively high.

"How are we going to get down?" Inna asked, finding their situation to be more difficult than she hoped it would be. Madeline remained quiet, thinking of a way, and her eyes widened when she remembered escaping from Roland’s home using the window.
