Chapter 180: A Visit From Elijah (2)
"How did you get in here?" Asked Cassian after his eyes retracted back to the young vampire, but then he realized how inconsequential his question was since it was Elijah he was speaking to. Was there a place the lone vampire couldn’t break into?
Cassian wished he was gifted with that kind of ability to break in and out of anywhere he could think of.
Saying nothing to him, Elijah sat on the floor with both his legs crossed. His green eyes swept through the areas of the cell before resting on the young lad who was trapped inside the cell like a tamed wild beast. Elijah’s expression was relatively calm, and Cassian sensed no threat’s from his presence, the only issue he had with him presently was why he had to kill those bodyguards and most importantly, drag their lifeless body here.
He was thirsty enough as it is.
"What are you doing here?" Switching to his no-nonsense attitude, he cocked his head to the side while his impenetrable gaze remained locked on the vampire who silently watched him. "If you’re here to kill me then I must let you know that you picked the best time to show up. As you can see, I lack strength, so finish up and take your leave. At least I’ll be the one to torment some souls in hell, but I warn you, don’t ruin my face."
Cassian meant every word he just said, he had no intention of getting into a fight with Elijah, and watching him lay back on his bed with not even the slightest hesitation only amused Elijah, and he let out a soft laugh before wiping off the bloody stain from his lips, shaking his head as the complexities in his mind grew, and truth be told, he wasn’t here to kill Cassian either.
Yes, he was irritated by this decision.
"That fact that you want it takes away the fun in killing, I like it when my victims shudder and tremble." His gaze shifted to the dead bodyguards he had killed and of course, he couldn’t let their blood go to waste, so he took enough to recharge his strength and improve his abilities.
"I’m not here to kill you." He began, the seriousness of their conversation returning, "I’m here to say, I told you so." A slow smile adorned his red colored lips, "the humans you wish to protect are the reason you’re locked up here. Not only are you locked, but you’re also accused of the abduction of those missing people. Should I feel sorry for you when I already warned you this will happen?"
Cassian’s brows creased in recognition, and his eyes widened slightly, "was this your plan?" He sat up on the bed when it finally made sense, "the attack on my wife, you knew what was going to happen, did you do this because you knew I’d save her, you planned on exposing me this fucking time?"
"I wanted you to see how the people you protect aren’t worth it." Elijah corrected, "they praise you for your title and that’s the end of it. Just one mistake," he emphasized by raising his index finger, "an unintentional mistake is all it takes for your reputation to go downhill, and when they don’t see you anymore, you become forgotten, acting like you never existed, and the same color of fate awaits you when you get executed tomorrow."
An oppressive silence filled the cell, and Elijah’s green eyes glinted with enmity, but then, it faded when he looked right into the Amber-brown eyes of Cassian, and he said. "I can get you out of here, but in return I need you to join me. You seem to forget that I didn’t turn you into the likes of me for a theater play, there’s something about you, and with you on my side, we can get revenge on all those people who think we’re nothing but toys that can be discarded when they feel like it."
