The Baroness Misbehaves

Chapter 178: Exchange Of Words In The Kitchen

Back inside the quiet home of Cassian, Inna gently dropped a tray at the side table and sat on a chair close to Catherine’s bed.

She handed the lady her medicine, and then a glass of water she could use to easily step down the drugs into her system. All the while she attended to Catherine, there was not a tiny creak of smile that broke on her lips, her expression was unfathomable, giving Catherine the chills as she said nothing and quietly took her medicine.

Everyone had read the news concerning Cassian, including the rumors, and the tension in the house increased. No one’s had breakfast and Orson already stepped out a few minutes before Inna entered her room. After taking her medicine, Catherine cleared her throat and tried to start up a conversation with Inna, something to weigh down the restlessness in the environment.

"I’m... I’m grateful for how you’ve been taking care of me." Said Catherine, but Inna’s reaction barely faltered as she got to her feet and picked up the tray she had brought with her. Her impassive gaze shifted to Catherine, and a slight scoff left her lips.

"Firstly, don’t misinterpret my kindness, you don’t need to talk to me like we’re friends." Asserted Inna, "secondly, I’m only doing this because Orson approached me. If you have anyone to thank for this, it’s Orson, cause I wouldn’t look in your direction if it wasn’t for him."

"Inna." Catherine tried to apologize, but the young lady had already turned and stepped out of her room, clearly pissed. Catherine had her own nervousness to deal with, if Inna can’t forgive her, then where is the possibility that Cassian will??

Reaching the kitchen, Inna dropped the tray on the counter. She closed her eyes for a moment and tried to get rid of the annoyance that was building inside of her. This wasn’t the right time to start picking on anyone, and Inna could only hope Madeline and Cassian were alright.

After seeing what was written down in the newspaper, It was normal for her to get anxious for her brother, and she couldn’t stop herself from pondering on whether Madeline was able to see Cassian.

"Here." She suddenly heard a familiar male voice speak to her, and when she opened her eyes, she met the blank stare of Elian who was handing her a handkerchief.
