Chapter 166: Elian’s Secret (3)
"They’re twins!" Madeline’s breathing hitched in her throat when the puzzles finally fit, and she immediately covered her mouth with her palm to avoid making a sound that would gain Elijah’s attention once again.
"What do I do?" Madeline silently thought to herself as she looked around for an easier route she could take to get away from here, but there was no possible way she could get out of here without attracting Elijah’s attention. She was still in shock from having to discover that Elian had a twin, and yet he told no one about it??
Why didn’t he say anything?
"Breathe, Maddie." She calmly cautioned herself, closing her eyes and taking each deep breath one step at a time. After regaining her senses to a normal rate, she opened her eyes and quietly crawled out of the corner where she hid, using their conversation as a way for her to sneak past so she could find Cassian.
"I see you never mentioned about me to your new friends, have I brought that much shame to you that you never told anyone about your own brother?" Asked Elijah who enjoyed watching his brother lose his cool - just like the old times.
"I am not your brother, you disgust me." Uttered Elian whose grasp tightened against the hilt of the one blade in his hand. His green eyes reigned with endearing fury, one that made Elijah smile upon noticing the disappointment in his brother’s eyes.
"It’s been a decade since we last saw, how dare you harbor such hate towards me." Elijah had mixed feelings after seeing his own brother stand in front of him, it felt more like he was looking at himself, there were times he had Elian by his side, but now, the same eyes that always looked up to him were staring at him with such resentment and visible hate.
It irritated him.
"Did you come here to fight me?"
