Chapter 156: Silent Feud (1)
"You swine!"
Inna had her fist raised, ready to hit the vampire when the main door suddenly opened, ruining her chances to get revenge, and it took a lot of great effort for her hands to drop at her side, allowing those fatuous words of his to slide. She wouldn’t wish to prove to him that his words affected her in some way, or how much it stirred her blood on the inside.
There was just something unusually odd about him, and it reeked with bad news. Inna wouldn’t want to consider being friends with someone who possessed such enmity within him even if he never said a word about it, but it certainly won’t stop her from discovering why she finds him mysteriously odd, and understanding Vampires a lot better was something her secret letter friend would help her understand better.
"Was Orson here?" Asked Cassian when he stepped into the living room with Madeline, and Inna nodded her head in response, her arms folded.
"Yes, he left not too long ago to deliver the news of Catherine’s health to his parents. Don’t worry, he didn’t tell them she’s here, but he assured them she was in a safe place getting treated. The physician came this afternoon, so far Cath’s out of danger, but I can’t say what’s taking her so long to regain consciousness."
"That is not a terrible option, she should remain unconscious till I’m ready to face her without pulling out my guns and ending her myself." Came Cassian’s blunt retort as he hung his jacket against a stand in the living room before going up the stairs, unbuttoning the two top buttons on his shirt.
Madeline watched him disappear from the stairs before looking at Inna and Elian who instinctively met her gaze. She let out a deep breath before speaking softly to the two of them.
"You two should get some rest, It’s been a long day for everyone."
Inna, who didn’t have enough strength to argue anymore, nodded with a forced smile before turning and going down the walk path in the hallway. It left Madeline and Elian standing in the living room, absorbing the quietness until they finally locked gazes.
"Aren’t you tired?" She asked, but Elian casually stuck his hands in his trouser pocket, shaking his head slightly.
"I can’t be tired, too many things are at risk if I choose to get tired."
