The Baroness Misbehaves

Chapter 102: Messenger Bird (2)

Cassian took an ample amount of his time to thoroughly think about it which was why he was confident enough to say it to her. He wanted to make her conscious of the fact that he wanted her, and also prove to the stubborn woman that he has no intention of marrying another - not in this life or the next to say the least.

As much as he planned to take this discussion very seriously in order to strengthen the length of their marriage, Cassian couldn’t stop the tittering sound that left his lips after hearing her innocent reason for outrightly refusing to get in bed with him.

She was afraid he’d break her, and to be hundred percent honest considering that logic, he does have the evil intention of breaking her along with the bed, but certainly not in the beginning.

Madeline studied his expression, noticing he had gone silent after she refused to make an agreement with this particular offer he presented before her. Her eyes inquisitively narrowed at him, taking his countless reactions into consideration, silently hoping her rejection did not offend him too deeply that he would no longer speak to her.

"Fine." She suddenly heard him say with a little shrug of his shoulders, and Madeline’s eyes expanded slightly at how considerate he was to take her rejection lightly.

"Really? You’re not.... offended?" Although she’s only heard about it, she had never wished for a man to force her into doing what she wasn’t ready for. She’s heard about how most husband’s get furious when their wives deny them of their rights to consummate, and she never gave her idea on that matter since she had the mentality that she would get sold to some barbarian, or die in the middle of being sold.

"Offended?" The young lad himself found it silly that she assumed he would get upset. "Why would I be? I understand your point and it’s a good thing you’re keeping me aware of what you truly feel. It’s fine, we still have time and we’re not growing old anytime soon." He ruffled her hair affectionately, sending warmth coursing through her body before getting out of bed, and Madeline, who was still in doubt, quietly watched him make his way to the door.

He stopped and turned to look in her direction. "I’ll be in my study in case you need me."

She nodded her head in response and watched him walk out. A slow smile graced her lips after he left, and she could feel her heart pound in pure adoration.
