Sleeping With The CEO

Chapter 351: Calming Violence

Cassandra Haven was used to nerve wrecking situations. But the intense situations that she had grown accustomed to, were mostly centered around business deals and tense negotiations.

Having to wait in the hospital for word on whether or not her son was still alive and well, was a different kind of tense situation. One that Cassandra did not want to be part of, but she did not have a choice.

Not only had her son nearly drowned, Derek had also been shot.

Bullet wounds were complex. The injury from it could cause all sorts of problems for both Derek and Emily.

Thinking that someone had not only forced them over the edge. But they had also shot at them too, made Cassandra so angry. Were she in a better state of mind. She would have been doing something about it. Putting all of her effort into finding out who had dared to point a gun at her son, not resting until they were found.

That was what she should have been doing. Being proactive. Making sure that her mind was kept occupied. But Cassandra was in no shape for such a demanding task.

She had barely been able to give out the orders to keep the press away, and to also call in her own private security when she had been informed of Derek and Emily’s additional injuries. Her son being afforded as much protection as she could give him.

And the press also being kept away for privacy had been as much forward thinking, as Cassandra’s overwhelmed mind had been able to do. Now she sat in the private waiting room watching as Jane got up from time to time to pace, unable to do anything but wait.

It was as though there had been this huge wall erected, one that separated the normal take charge Cassandra, and the mom Cassandra. Leaving the softer motherly side of her as the more dominant part. Making it impossible to think of doing anything other than making sure that she waited for news on her son. Hoping and praying that he made it out alive.
