Chapter 340: Body Of Proof
Most times Derek was too busy living to think about death.
But like everyone else, even if the majority would not admit to it. He thought about his demise every once in a while.
Not in a suicidal way, but just imagining what he hoped his end would be like. Derek had always prayed that he would have a peaceful death. Getting to say goodbye to his loved ones and then passing away in his sleep. That was the dream for a lot of people.
And if a peaceful death in his own bed was not in the cards for him. Derek had at least hoped for something swift and painless. A type of death that would be over before he even knew what was happening. Those were the kinds of endings that Derek had always thought of.
But never in a million years had he thought that his death would be at the hands of his uncle. But it seemed that that would be the case for him. As he drove behind Emily, his uncle next to him pointing his gun at Derek.
The former CEO was still struggling to process. His uncle had killed his father, and he had also killed Emily’s dad. Now he was going to murder Emily and Derek. His uncle was family.
That should have meant something.
But apparently to the man all that blood relations were, were just bonds that could be easily severed, in the name of power and of keeping secrets. Stealing a glance at his uncle, Derek’s hands tightened on the wheel. He briefly thought of just taking a chance and crashing the car. But he decided against it.
Crashing the car would not be a foolproof plan. Derek might be the one gravely injured and his uncle might walk away from it. And that would leave Derek unable to protect his Emily.
