Chapter 320: Right To Be Wrong...sometimes
Cassandra Haven did not like being wrong.
Some called it a fault. A trait that had to be corrected. But as far as she was concerned, she was just being human. No one liked being wrong. Those who said they did were either very bad liars. Or they were destined to be eternal losers.
Why be wrong when you could be right? That just made no sense to Cassandra.
Right was just so much better. But for the first time in her life, Cassandra had to admit.
Being wrong sometimes was not such a bad thing.
She had been wrong about Emily Molson. The woman was not a gold digger. In fact, if anything, Emily Molson had a heart of gold for being able to forgive Cassandra for what she had done.
Cassandra had completely gotten the young woman’s character wrong, and she was glad that she had not been right. If she had been right, then Derek would have given his heart to a cold, calculating woman who was only after him for his money and power. Someone who did not care about him at all, but was only with him for selfish reasons. Only looking to feed on him like a parasite. Just to discard him when what he offered was no longer enough.
But instead her son had managed to find someone who cared not about his title, or his riches, but about him as a person. Someone who liked Derek Haven for himself, instead of for his name, and all that it could offer.
That had become as clear as day back at the manor. But now as Cassandra sat in the back seat with Emily and Derek up front on the driver and passenger seat respectively. She could fully appreciate that Emily Molson genuinely cared for her son.
