Chapter 189: Addicted
After a Saturday that had essentially been spent doing absolutely nothing but sleeping. Derek should have been more alert on Sunday night and on Sunday the day itself. He should have been wanting to be out there in the world.
To finish work, to catch up on projects, and to make sure that when it came to the work that he had done in advance, everything was in order.
But his body was not having it.
He had suffered for years. His body had suffered for years. It had endured what was way more, than what the average human body should have been able to take. Now that it was finally getting a chance to rest, to sleep, it was not letting go easily. And to be honest, Derek did not try all that hard to get his body to relinquish its hold on sleep, and wake up.
Rather than treating his body like a machine that only used sleep to recharge itself. Derek had taken the opportunity that came with sleeping with Emily and had run with it.
He’d had himself a lazy weekend, the first that he had had in years. And it was totally worth it. There was not a single thing that he would change. Were his mother to know. She would call what Derek did that weekend slothful abhorrent behavior. An that was unbefitting of the chief executive officer of Haven Group. Not only that, it was behavior that she did not expect from the son that she had worked so hard in raising into a proper gentleman. But Derek was certain that even if her tone was full of nothing but disappointment. Or if she hissed the most horrible things at him, he would still just smile at her. Because that weekend Derek had gotten to sleep. And sleep was wonderful.
There were no people around for him to impress. So he had spent the weekend in his pyjamas with only Emily there to witness him dressed so casually. For two days straight, breakfast had been cereal.
And right after breakfast, it had been straight to bed, where Derek had been asleep almost as soon as his head had hit the pillow, with Emily in his arms. And that was another thing that he had enjoyed about his weekend, that he would not take back no matter what.
Emily.
