Sleeping With The CEO

Chapter 179: War Declared

Emily was very lucky that she was invaluable as a personal assistant.

Plus, she was someone that Derek really needed in order to be able to sleep. If not, she would have been fired before their little lunch meeting was over. That was all he could think as he looked over at her. Really, she expected him to list his reasons, and then give information as to why he thought that those reasons were important. Really? Derek just could not believe it. But just because he refused to believe it. It did not mean that it was not happening. And as he stared at Emily and Emily stared back, Derek realized that the only way out was through.

He was going to have to jump through her hoops in order to show her why his days were the best choice.

She was his subordinate, his PA.

She should trust him on these things. But it seemed that Emily had a stubborn streak. He had caught glimpses of it. Especially during that whole thing with the protest going on with the solar panel plant workers. But now he was seeing it more and more. And it was especially evident right at that very moment. Why was she being difficult about this? Both of them needed sleep. All she had to do was just agree with him, and they could get on with it. But it seemed that that would not be happening. And so, letting out a sigh, Derek decided to just play ball.

" Emily," He began, "I am not doing this to be difficult. The reason that I am saying Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday is because those are the best days. Look at it this way. Mondays, everybody needs to recover after a Monday. And think of how great it would be after a blue Monday to be able to go home and sleep. We have never had that before in our lives. Other people get to do that. Why can’t we? Why should we deny ourselves?" He gave her a pleading look.

"And once we’ve put in Monday. Let’s do what you said earlier, and just follow in with the rest of the other days to make it four days and then we can go our separate ways. Not sleeping the other three days of the week," It made a lot less sense when he said it out loud.

Blue Mondays? Was that the best that he could come up with. When he had thought of it, it had sounded like a pretty good argument. But now that it was out there.

Derek himself was struggling to figure out exactly what it was that he had been trying to get across to her. And it seemed that Emily was having the same problem. But her way of dealing with it when she shot down the idea was very logical and Derek had to agree with her. "Derek, as much as I appreciate your argument on the whole Blue Monday thing, there is no way that it will be easy for me to explain working nights on Mondays to my mom. There’s just something about working nights on Mondays that is suspicious,"

"If I did not have anything to do over the weekend, why all of a sudden would something always pop up on Mondays?"

"It is more suspicious than work that piles up throughout the week and needs to be addressed or if we’re going by the excuse that you came up with, would it not be easier for us to pick the end of the week so that she truly buys it when I tell her that it is an extra project that I am doing for work?"

"After all, extra projects are some things that you do after hours, just when the week is winding down, right? There was a flaw in her logic, and her argument also did not seem as well put together," In fact, Derek was struggling to make sense of most of her reasoning.
